Congratulations to Shanna Lalley, one of Real Estate of Winter Parks Broker/Owners, for receiving her 15 year service award as a volunteer for the National Sports Center for the Disabled! During her 15 years as a volunteer for the NSCD Shanna has worked for a variety of different programs. She began teaching skiing to young developmentally disabled kids. Next, she taught snowboarding to youth at risk. Shanna spent 5 years working in the equipment room helping to fit all of the students with equipment. Currently she volunteers with the Winter Park Disabled Ski Team assisting on the hill with setting gates, slipping the course and setting course closure for training and races. Shanna says her tenure with the NSCD has not only been gratifying and rewarding but has led her to many lifelong friendships and motivated her to move up to Winter Park full time. Best of all Shanna met her long time boyfriend Kelly, who received his 15 year service award 5 years ago. The National Sports Center for the Disabled was founded in 1970 by Hal O'Leary at Winter Park Resort. The first program of its kind which inspired the creation of several similar programs, at ski resorts, across the country. The National Sports Center for the Disabled's mission is to positively impact the lives of people with any physical or mental challenge through quality adaptive recreation programs in over 20 sports. The NSCDs impact on lives is direct, immediate and visible. For More information about the NSCD, check out their Website: www.nscd.org
