There is lot of stuff happening in Winter Park and the Fraser Valley this weekend. Besides the Winter Carnival celebrating Winter Park Ski Resort's 70thBirthday don't miss the pre-celebration activities in Cooper Creek Square starting at 3:30 on Saturday, January 23rd. From 3:30 to 5:30 come meet Bruiser the Rag Dog. Bruiser is brought to life by puppeteer, Bob Aiken, putting smiles on the faces of children and adults alike. After getting to know Bruiser enjoy Early Bird Dinner Special from 4:30 to 6pm at one of Cooper Creek's eclectic selection of restaurants. Alberto's is the newest addition to Cooper Creek Square and the newest restaurant by local chef Al Sapien. Al brought the wonderful Tabernash Tavern to the Fraser Valley and formerly kept us all eating well at the old Shed Restaurant in downtown Winter Park. If you happen to be in Winter Park on Friday night, wonder down to Java Mic Night at Mountain Grind and catch Danny Schafer from 7 â 9. Mountain Grind now has full bar can serve up adult drinks. After enjoying the festivities at the Winter Carnival head over to Ullr's Tavern (formerly Buckets Saloon) and catch the American-Rock sounds of Missed the Boat. Featuring acoustic guitar, mandolin, electric mandolin, tenor banjo, electric bass, drums and harmonica, the band produces the energy-infused, positive, upbeat sound that radio listeners deserve and concert goers love. Recently nominated for the 2010 Grammy's in 4 categories, Missed the Boat start playing at 9pm.
