It happens to me every year. I find myself wanting to see something green or perhaps a blooming daffodil. It comes when the days get longer and the temperature starts to climb. A restlessness and desire to break away. If you, like me, have any of these symptoms you may be infected with āSpring Feverā The first day of spring season this year was March 20th, the date when night and day are nearly the same length and sun crosses the equator heading north. Scientists say the fever that comes in spring is brought on by hormonal changes in the body, an increase in serotonin which is a mood elevating neurotransmitter. The fever can be blamed for the urge to deep clean your home, a restlessness sitting at your office desk, or a love struck daze. To help relieve the symptoms of the fever, visit a flower nursery, grease the chain on your bike, or take a day trip to Denver where the grass is turning green and the spring flowers are in bloom. When you are looking out your window for the first robin of the season and see the two feet of snow covering your landscape, know that spring season in Winter Park, Colorado will begin sometime in June.
