In recent years short term rentals by owner have become a controversial topic nationwide and Grand County is no exception. Grand County, over the years, has received complaints about noise, disrespect and nuisance of vacationing renters. Not to mention the fact that its become evident to the county and state that owners are making income on vacation rentals but neglecting to pay tourism, county and sales tax. The Grand County Commissioners adopted regulations in October, 2011 which require registration with Grand County as well as compliance with health and safety regulations. The annual registration fee is $20. The registration form includes the property owners contact information as well as a 24-hour contact person responsible for the short term rental. The registration form and information about the new regulations are available through the Grand County Planning Commission.
