Replacing the former Governor's Cup Race, the Stagecoach Classic Point-to-Point cross-country ski race is classic-technique only. The more recreation-minded also have a15kmski or snowshoe tour option. The 30km/15km classic cross country ski race and tour will start at Devil's Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa, traverse through the former Idlewild Ski Area and finish with a post-race BBQ with live music at Hideaway Park in Downtown Winter Park. This race pays homage to the ski history of the Idelwild area. In the past the Idlewild trail system connected to Devil's Thumb Ranch, linkingTabernash, Fraser, and Winter Park, Idlewild is still remembered by skiers as one of the best Nordic areas in Colorado. This event is expected to draw serious Nordic skiers and racers as well as classic old-school purists because it's a unique event a point-to-point, classic-technique race only. It's a rare chance to ski such a beautiful, off the map course. This is an exclusive opportunity, as this will be the only time this winter that this trail system will be connected and groomed for skier access. A portion of the race and tour proceeds will go towards the Trout Unlimited campaign to protect and preserve the endangered Fraser River.
