Flowers! - by Janene Johnson

What's the easiest, quickest, cheapest thing a homeowner can do to add curb appeal to their home? Flowers! Even up here in Winter Park, Colorado in the Rocky Mountains, our flowers throughout town and in front of our businesses and homes add charm and a welcoming feel. Winter Park is known for its winter activities such as skiing at the Winter Park Resort, cross country skiing at Devil's Thumb Ranch, snowshoeing on our many trails throughout the county and last but not least, snowmobiling around Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake. But our summers are known for hiking, biking, sailing on Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Lake Granby. We're also known for the abundance of wildflowers throughout all of our mountains. Homeowners up here in Grand County, Colorado know that this is one of the things that brought them to this valley and area, so they truly enjoy bringing a little of the alpine tundra to their cabins and homes. When properties are for sale, it does help to catch the buyer's attention and make them feel at home and welcome. Flowers that grow naturally, like the Colorado state flower Columbine, are the easiest for second home owners. Currently, my yard and many of my listings are chock-full of the beautiful Lupine that grow abundantly through the valley. So there you go, a quick trip to your local nursery for a few well-placed buckets of flowers by your front door and you'll be set!
