The XTERRA Winter Park will be held at Gaylord Reservoir at Snow Mountain Ranch. The transition area will be at the beach near the canoe rentals with sweeping views of the surrounding hills. The trails used for the mountain bike and run portion were built before the beetle kill and are now just being re-commissioned, according to race director Paul Karlsson of Golden who rode the trails on Wednesday afternoon.
The course is spectacular and everyone will love it.
This is the third year of the event and the race will be limited to 150 people due to space limitations at the transition area.
Brad Zoller is a pro triathlete who raced it last year and will be returning this year, said Karlsson.
For bikers and runners who dont like to swim there is a duathlon option: Coyote Tooth Duathlon with a 3K run instead of a 1,000 meter swim.
Grand County residents get a $15 discount by using the discount code GRAND and every Grand County volunteer or volunteer recruited by a Grand County volunteer, Karlsson will donate $25 to the Shining Stars Foundation. The races starts at 8 a.m. on August 6. Register online at www.digdeepsports.com.
