The Winter Park Ski Train is BACK! Starting August 30th, you can book weekend rides, one way or round trip, from Denvers Union Station to the new platform at Winter Park! The train will start runningJanuary 7th, and stop service March 26th. The Ski Train was once an iconic part of Colorado lifestyle. From 1940 through 2009 it carriedskiers from Denvers Union Station to the slopes of Winter Park. The route passed through 29 tunnels before reaching the highest railroad tunnel in the United States, the 6.2 mile longMoffat Tunnel, where it stopped less than 100 yards from the base of Winter Park Resort. The train, which can hold over 500 passengers, will depart from Union Station at 7:00 AM and arrive at the resort around9:00 AM. Trains will depart from the resort at 4:30 PM and return to Denver at 6:40 PM. Tickets start out at $39.00 each way, andgo on sale August 30. For adults traveling with children ages 2-12, two children per ticketed adult can receive the half-price ticket. The idea behind the train is for passengers to ditch the heavy ski traffic on I-70 and US Hwy 40 by enjoying a comfortable and scenic ride to the slopes by train. Dont miss out on this winter tradition that has happily returned to Winter Park!
