When you think February you might think hearts and flowers. When we think February we think Cupids Revenge and the Wells Fargo Ski Cup! Two great events that benefit two amazing local nonprofits.
Get your snowshoes ready for the 3rd Annual Cupids Revenge on February 18th. This 5k timed over-the-snow race utilizes the new groomed trailby Hideaway Park (See photo of our own Zach Lloyds adorable German Shepherds on the trail) in the old Idlewild Ski Area. Participants will start the race by climbing the groomed trail next to Yankee Doodle Trail to loop down on the Meadow Trail back to Hideaway Park. Fun for the entire family! The race begins at 10:00 am. Proceeds benefit theGrand Foundation. The Grand Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life in Grand County by proactively addressing current and future needs in the areas of Health & Human Services, Arts & Culture, Education, Amateur Sports and Environment.
February 22nd - 26th we move to the Winter Park Ski Resort for the 42nd Annual Wells Fargo Ski Cup. The Wells Fargo Ski Cup boasts the longest running professional ski race in the country and serves as a signature fundraiser for the National Sports Center for the Disabled. Three races comprise the three-day weekend. The Corporate Challenge: Saturday skiers and snowboarders from thirty-three corporate teams race against each other to claim bragging rights and prizes. A NSCD Competition Center Athlete races on each team for cash prizes to help finance his/her expenses to train for the 2018 Paralympics. Sunday the kids get in on the action! Kids of Wells Fargo Ski Cup guests, ages 5-12, race the same course as the professionals and are joined by mascots from Winter Park and Colorado sports teams in the Kids Snowplow Sprint. Capping off the weekend on Sunday is the World Disabled Invitational Professional athletes from around the world compete for cash prizes in a race unlike any other.
