If youre looking for a challenging trek, this hike is considered strenuous with a round trip distance of 7.5 miles and a 347-foot elevation gain for a total elevation of 9,945 feet. Be sure to wear solid hiking boots if you embark on this journey as you will run into a few obstacles. After youve been hiking for nearly two miles, youll come to the intersection of the Green Mountain Trail and Tonahutu Creek Trail. Follow Tonahutu Creek Trail for the full experience.

Emerald Lake Trail

A popular hiking area, the Emerald Lake Trail is considered easy with a moderate distance of 3.5 miles roundtrip. At the beginning of the trail, youll notice a sign for the Bear Lake Loop. Many hikers choose to veer off here for a quick detour to Bear Lake, though this area can get quite crowded during the day, so you may want to get an early start if you plan to take this route. From here, hikers can continue towards Emerald Lake, running into several alternate routes leading to other lakes.
