What You Need to Know About Grand Lake Fishing
1. Get a Fishing License
You can purchase a one-day, five-day, or annual Colorado fishing license online through Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) or by calling 1-800-244-5613. Youll also need to purchase a Habitat Stamp, and if youd like to use a second rod, handline, or tip-up, youll need a Second-Rod Stamp as well.
2. Get Familiar With Grand Lake and Colorado Fishing Regulations
Colorado waters are open for fishing year-round day or night, with some special regulations. Be sure to know the bag limit for each type of fish, rules for bait, accepted fishing methods, and rules around transporting fish. You can keep one longer than 36, and up to four lake trout total. Gaffs and tail snares are prohibited, and motorized boats and portable ice fishing shelters are allowed on Grand Lake.
