The Winter Park Half Marathon & 5K is a great way to simultaneously challenge yourself and support a great cause. This race takes place in early August of every year. If youre a seasoned runner or just want the extra challenge, go for the 13.1 half marathon! During this race, youll climb almost 1,000 feet in elevation. No matter which race you choose, all of the proceeds from entry fees will be donated to the Shining Stars Foundation. This non-profit allows children living with terminal illnesses to get to show off their skills in outdoor, social, and recreational experiences unhindered by their medical limitations.
Leadville 100 | Leadville
One of the most well-known and challenging races in the country takes place in the Centennial State every August. The Leadville 100 Trail Run is not for the faint of heart (or leg muscle, for that matter); this grueling course pits runners against extreme elevations and stunning scenery. The 100-mile route is set amid the Rocky Mountains and take participants on a journey from an elevation of 9,200 feet to 12,600 feet. This self-proclaimed Race Across the Sky takes athletes on a journey through Colorados challenging landscape in hopes that theyll come out with a deeper appreciation for it and their own ability to achieve greatness.
