Step back to the late 1800s in the original Hot Sulphur Springs School. View artifacts as old as 8,500-years-old! You'll find historic Grand County artifacts, like tools, pioneer clothing, an early railroad snowplow, and even a ski train caboose at the Pioneer Village Museum. While you're in the area, visit Pioneer Park, where you can enjoy 80 acres of beautifully maintained landscape alongside the Colorado River!

Head over to Fraser Valley to check out Cozens Ranch Museum, the "Biggest Little Museum" in the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Region. Situated along the Fraser River, you can travel back to the days of stagecoach travel during the pioneer life of the late 1800s,   Here, you can step into restored buildings of the first homestead of Fraser Valley. The Cozens Ranch was the first stage stop on the west side of Berthoud Pass, where tired travelers enjoyed a nice warm thirty-five-cent lunch prepared by Mary York Cozens and her daughters.

Emily Warner Field Aviation Museum

You'll love the Emily Warner Field Aviation Museum if you love learning about aviation. Located in the former Rocky Mountain Airways airline terminal, you can learn about Emily Warner's flying experience in Grand County through displays, photographs, and artifacts.    You'll find three exhibits, including the Pioneer Wall of Fame, an exhibition on military aviation honoring famed aviator Charles Lindbergh & the Knight Ranch airfield (under Lake Granby), as well as President Eisenhower, a pilot and frequent visitor to Fraser, and a section dedicated to the history of the Rocky Mountain Airways (RMA).

Moffat Road Railroad Museum

Everyone will love the museum site at Moffat Road Railroad Museum. Here, you can explore the Railroad Interpretive Center Park next to the Kaibab Park ball fields in Granby. Kids and adults alike will love seeing these historic trains.   Check out a 1905 Passenger Car, a 1915-era railroad handcart shed, and a 1923 red UP caboose made of solid wood. The kids will love the interactive features of the Model Railroad Display, which features five trains running at once, and the ski mountain next door with working ski lifts.

Interested in knowing more about the westward movement? Step into the Kauffman House Museum, built-in 1892. Learn how the house was operated as a hotel until 1946 by the Kauffman family in downtown Grand Lake, near the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.   Check out artifacts from the Grand Lake community's mining, trapping, fishing, and tourist phase, including clothing, furniture, dolls, iron kitchen tools, books, quilts, skis, winter sports equipment, and stereopticon photos.
