Snowcat Skiing just 20 minutes from Winter Park! - by Jean Wolter

The new Winter Park based company, Powder Addiction, is officially opened for business! My husband Jamie, aka Ski Boss runs the show so I, luckily, got to join him for his first tour yesterday. It was fabulous! Powder Addictions permitted area is on Jones pass which is accessed past Henderson mine on the south- east side of Berthoud Pass. The terrain is incredible. The snow cat transported us up to 12,500 feet. We had fresh tracks every run. I know that is hard to believe this year since we are all praying for snow but Jones pass actually had 8 inches new on Monday and a few inches on Tuesday. The guides are all avalanche experts and they continuously evaluate the slopes for stability to ensure our safety. Each guest is provided with appropriate avalanche gear, fat powder skis and a hearty lunch from Rudis Deli. We skied chutes, bowls, and glades all untouched fresh powder. The longest run from the top to the bottom is 3000 vertical! It was a taste of big mountain skiing right in our own back yard! If you love skiing the POW POW check out Powder Addiction- I promise you wont be disappointed!

The Sumerians also started the first form of currency. Not coins nor paper but domestic animals, such as cows, camels and sheep. As the number of countries grew, so did the need for [...]
